Coffee & Pastries
August 27, 2025
Sometimes all you need is a good coffee and something sweet (or savory) on the side. These are our favorite stops around town for that perfect combo.
Café Coos
Oud-West | Local Favorite | Dutch Comfort Food | Family Run
Just three months in and already a local hit: Café Coos has quickly become a neighborhood favorite on the corner of the Bilderdijkkade. Run by twin sisters Rachel & Roos, with Mira as the kitchen queen and recipe mastermind, the café is inspired by their grandfather Coos and the comforting flavors of classic Dutch cuisine with a twist.
Think local ingredients, nostalgic flavors, and feel-good food the Dutch way. You’ll find “ontbijtkoek” (breakfast cake if we translate it literally, haha) with whipped butter, apple syrup, and Friese nagelkaas from Fromagerie Kef, or COOS’ hangop with seasonal compote and homemade five-grain granola. Next time, we’ll definitely try their favorite: the krentenbol (a.k.k the raison bun).

Bakkerij Louf
Nieuw West & De Pijp | Sourdough Bakery | Serene & Minimal
It’s a louf story 🤍 With connecting doors to one of our favorite restaurants, Café Binnenvisser, is the perfect dreamy, quiet, serene bakery in Nieuw West! The bakery is open and spacious enough for you to sit down, the outside benches are very popular, or just take your goodies for a walk in the park.
What we love is that they’re a sourdough bakery with bread, pastry, sandwiches, foccacia’s, coffee and cold drinks. Fun thing is that you can actually see where the magic happens because the bakery is open, so you can imagine… the jummie smell is all over the place.
We went in for a quick breakfast and you definitely have to try their omelet croissant. The croissant itself is so fresh, stuffed with egg and the best softly grained parmesan cheese on top that melts on your tongue.
We have to come back soon for all the other pastries and foccacia’s etc. because we want moreee!

Meet Alexandre Scour, the visionary behind Layers. What started as a dream in Paris is now becoming reality in Amsterdam. And trust us—you’ve never experienced a bakery quite like this.

Farine
Bos en Lommer | French Bakery | Croissants & Sourdough | Cozy Charm
The passion of the owners shines through in every bake, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping by for an espresso with a sweet treat or a rustic lunch, Farine offers the charm and coziness of a traditional French boulangerie with a lot of light entering the store.
This is our go-to spot for anything fresh in the weekend.
Une véritable expérience française!

Luuk's Coffee
Centrum & Jordaan | Specialty Coffee | Daily Routine | Local Energy
Coffee lover or not you gotta try this delish blend! Super silky and with a good punch, just the way we like it. 🌬
You can also grab a juice to get you fired up after a workout, or have a seat and chill out with a matcha and a banana bread.
Fine lines and art combine as they even have a mini gallery. Their main wall carries art from changing upcoming artists which you can purchase on request. Nevertheless, there’s only one boss in the building and that’s their crazily beautiful baby blue coffee machine!!

Bakkerij Wolf
Rozengracht & 9 Straatjes | Sourdough & Pastries | Weekly Staple | Consistent Quality
Some places just get it right, every-single-time. Bakkerij Wolf is one of them. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee and something on the go, picking up a loaf of fresh sourdough for home, or sitting down for a proper breakfast or lunch at the Utrechtsestraat, it always hits the mark.
Known for their original pastries and no-fuss quality, this is the kind of place that becomes part of your weekly routine without ever getting boring. We often swing by the Rozengracht for a quick bite and caffeine fix, but when there’s time, we head to the 9 Straatjes for their sit-down menu perfect for long, lazy mornings.
And guess what? Rumour has it they’ve recently opened a third spot on the Utrechtsestraat. More Wolf? Yes, please.

BunBun
Jordaan | Croissant Dough Buns | Sweet & Savory | Coffee To-Go
This corner venue, has finally found its true owner: BunBun! Specializing in flavorful croissant dough buns, both sweet and savory, this is the place where cravings are happily satisfied.
Opened by pastry chef Wouter (from a family of bakers and with a track record at some of Amsterdam’s finest bakeries), together with Hospitality entrepreneurs Julien and Toon, BunBun has become the new hotspot at Noordermarkt. Grab a coffee to go, pick your favorite filling, and beware… once you’ve tried one, you’ll definitely want to try them all.
Pantopia
Centrum | Luxury Pastry | Event Space | Art Gallery
New favorite pastry gallery!! Gallery?? Yes, these pastries are a piece of art, and the iced lattes... Anyone following us on Instagram knows we’ve been back. The owner is incredibly passionate and friendly, helping you choose the perfect treat, whether savory or sweet. But why is this our new favorite? What makes it stand out from all the rest? They look like pieces of art, my eyes are always bigger than my stomach! Choosing just one was a challenge; they all look amazing. The crunch factor is real! Glazed and caramelized crusts, simply wow. The sweetness of the pastries is perfectly balanced. Take the Pain Suisse Pistachio, for example, not overly sweet or heavy, just right.
